Even without a big, obtrusive cowl-induction hood, you just know there's a lot of engine hiding underneath when you see a slammed stance like this settled atop big meats out back. And you definitely won't be sneaking around with that retina-searing India Ivory over Gypsy Red paint, so you may as well go all-out, right? Unlike so many Pro Street track rats and vintage haulers, this Tri-5 is actually finished for the show field with exceptionally straight sheetmetal, precise gaps, and a miles-deep, high-dollar paint job that will win the big trophy at pretty much any classic car contest in the country. Other than that slammed and raked stance, the builders of this beauty were smart enough to leave the original design completely intact, so you won't find anything chopped, shaved, or frenched on this Del Ray. That means this Tri-5 will always look the proper part and never feel dated, and it appeals to both purists and resto-mod lovers alike. Punctuated with that insanely shiny and lustrous finish, the curb appeal is through the roof, and the way the lights bounce off both colors you'd think it was covered with diamond-infused clearcoat. All the 210 trim is right where it's supposed to be as well, and it too was restored and polished to show standards, with the original badges, big bumpers, and profile trim leading the way. Lightly tinted glass add to the high-end profile, and the classic good-looks continue in all the details, from the stock grille all the way back to the pointed taillights, which now offer smoked lenses.

Simple is better when it comes to high performance, and the brand-new interior in this Chevy is custom and comfortable without being fussy or over-wrought. Restored back to the original Del Ray style, the two-tone colors inside the cabin mimic the car's exterior, and with only 421 miles on the build you won't find a single comfort mark anywhere. Bench seats fore and aft were upholstered in appropriate patterns and are comfortable and supportive, wrapped in incredibly nice vinyl with high-end stitchwork that matches the original-style door panels, the taut headliner, and bright red carpets that cover the floors. The Gypsy Red dash steals the show up front, punctuated with all that gorgeously polished aluminum trim, and we love that the original, dual-ring steering wheel was beautifully restored and mounted to anchor the cockpit. A stock-style gauge pod was installed just ahead of that pretty steering wheel, and with all that added pop under the hood this 210 required some modern hardware to monitor the vitals –the perfect job for the Moon Eyes tachometer strapped to the steering column and the trio of auxiliary dials installed under the dash. A retro-style AM/FM stereo was mounted in the factory slot in the dash, and seatbelts were installed fore and aft, and a set of vinyl floor mats were included to protect the new carpets. Out back, the trunk was finished with a simple black carpet, keeping in line with the ultra-clean theme of the rest of the interior.

OK, OK, now we'll get to the really good stuff. The engine is a 427 cubic inch, all-aluminum small block from World Products, professionally installed like it was born there, and yes, it cackles and snarls just like you'd expect thanks to a host of accompanying performance goodies. Even with all that power, it's totally streetable and surprisingly capable in traffic, evidence of an expert build completed by skilled hands less than 500 miles ago. Sitting on top of the World Products Motown high-rise aluminum intake manifold is a giant Holley 4-barrel carb that breathes through that shiny chrome air cleaner, and an HEI ignition system and aluminum radiator were added for further reliability. Polished World Products valve covers and ceramic-coated long-tube headers adorn the block, and the careful attention to wiring and plumbing make it as much a show car as performance machine. The transmission is a built 2004R overdrive that can easily handle highway speeds, and an aluminum driveshaft spins a heavy-duty, custom rear end filled with street-ready gears, tucked-in neatly in between the fat meats out back. Drilled-and-slotted rotors on the Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes provide much-needed stopping power, tubular A-arms and a thick sway bar up front highlight the custom suspension, while out back the leaf-springs have been augmented with adjustable shocks and trailing arms, helping set the stance while pinning this 210 to the road when it's screaming down the road at full bore. The Del Ray's soundtrack is downright amazing thanks to a stainless steel H-pipe exhaust set-up that utilizes dual Flowmaster mufflers, but it's not so obnoxious that your HOA will send you letters every time you pull this beast out of the garage. Halibrand wheels wear 26x7.50x15 front and fat 29x12.5x15 rear Hoosier tires that fit neatly inside the wheel wells, and finish off this Tri-5's killer pro-street look.
